Space Craft Covers – A Monograph and Catalog, by Charles J. Vukotich, Jr.
Charles (Chuck) Vukotich’s book is an absolute must-have for Space Craft cover collectors. The 1st edition was published in 1988, followed by a revised 2nd edition in 1998. The catalog discusses the history of Space Craft Covers, provides insights on Joe Fitzpatrick & Carl Swanson, and offers detailed information about all the different covers, including ‘special’ SCC covers, as well as errors, freaks, and oddities. It also details how many of each cover were made. The catalog concludes with a comprehensive listing of all Space Craft Covers that were made and their values. I use mine all the time as it is the single best source of information available on Space Craft Covers.

1st Edition (88-90140)
Approximately 90 copies of the 1st edition were made. It consists of a 3-ring binder with individual hole-punched pages. The folder is quite futuristic-looking with a metallic grey finish and white all-caps text on the front cover and spine. It was a cool idea that Chuck had for the 1st edition, I really like it. It contains 63 pages plus 1 errata page issued in October 1988. Here is what it looks like:
2nd Edition (98-90231)
The 2nd edition is a spiral bound booklet. It contains 46 pages of information + 29 page catalog at the end. It is a revision of the 1st edition with some errors corrected and some new information as well. Here is what it looks like:

Towards the start of the SCC catalog, Chuck acknowledges a few people who helped him with the catalog including Jane Beville (1918-2006). Jane was a stamp dealer (‘Bevco Stamps’) in Waco TX and she was an avid collector of Space Craft Covers. For more information about Jane, see bottom of this page. In 2024, Jane’s personal copy of the 1st edition of Chuck’s catalog (grey folder) came up for sale and I was the lucky buyer. It contains all the 1st Edition pages of the catalog plus quite a lot of correspondence between Jane & Chuck as well, which i’ll show here for interest (see below), as well as some price lists, want-lists, etc.

Jane Beville’s Obituary from 2006:
Jane Katherine Beville, of Waco, died on June 6, 2006, at Providence Hospital. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Friday, June 9, at Oakwood Cemetery. Jane was born in Waco on April 30, 1918, the daughter of Dr. Alexander Jacob Beville and Frances Luedde Beville. Her parents preceded her in death. Her brother, Alexander Henry Beville, died in the service of his country during World War II. She graduated from Waco High School and the University of Texas. After residing in New Orleans, she returned to Waco and was involved in real estate investments until her death. She also collected rare stamps and owned and operated Bevco Stamps, Inc. for many years. Jane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waco. She participated in community projects and had served as an officer of Historic Waco Foundation. She enjoyed gardening and cultivating African violets, which she shared with friends. April 30, 1918 – June 6, 2006
