Sokalsky

My collection of space covers designed by Barbara Sokalsky is shown below.

Until recently, space cover collectors usually referred to these as ‘Sokolsky’ covers, but in December 2021 some new information came to light. As per the advertisement shown below (image courtesy of Dennis Ranski), the artist was Barbara Sokalsky from New Jersey, and the covers seem to have been made (or at least distributed) at first by Edward Warchol from New Jersey and later by T.D. Productions (Tom Dixon) from Brooklyn, NY.

Some Sokalsky covers have generic designs used for various different missions, and some are mission-specific. The 7 main generic designs (from A to G) are as follows:

Some Sokalsky covers have raised thermographic print and some have normal print. There does seem to be a tie between Sokalsky & ‘Celestial Covers’, as well as Sokalsky & the brand ‘Exquisite’, as seen in some of the scans below. Although not all ‘Celestial’ & ‘Exquisite’ covers seem to have been designed by Sokalsky i’ll show them here anyway.

Update: this thread on the CollectSpace forum has some interesting new information about Sokalsky covers.
